Big Bird Westphalia

Public transport -ride without buying a ticket

Big Bird Westphalia aims to develop a smartphone-based check-in / be-out system (CiBo) for the completely simple use of public transport throughout Westphalia without knowledge of fares or the purchase of tickets: check in - the travel authorization is automatically sent to the smartphone and at the destination of the trip, get off - done. At the end of the month, the passenger receives a best-price billing.

Big Bird will be launched in the districts of Soest, Unna and Hochsauerlandkreis (HSK). After a one-time registration, participation is easy via the Mobil Info app of RLG and the Fahrtwind app of VKU, which has been enhanced with Big Bird, and is open to everyone in the test area.

Big Bird Westfalen is a project of the district of Soest within the framework of the public transport digitization offensive NRW and is currently being prepared for the areas of the district of Soest, the Hochsauerlandkreis and the district of Unna.

BLIC has been active as a consultant since the conception phase and supports the district of Soest by taking over the project management to implement this promising e-ticketing solution.

As soon as the technical preparations currently underway have been completed, test operations will be launched. Current information can be found on the website for the Big Bird Westphalia project.
