Project description:

 

Goal of the project was the exchange of the old-fashioned AVM system of the SSB and the extension with new capabilities. Main requested improvements were:

  • Integrated management of light rail trains, trams and buses of SSB
  • capabilities for integration of own as well as foreign vehicles
  • connection to and parallel usage of two different communication systems (private mobile radio PMR and public mobile phone system GSM/GPRS)
  • provisions for interfacing with other public transport operators, e.g. regional rail operators and German Rail

In detail upgrading of 154 LTR vehicles, 40 trams and 240 buses as well as 213 real time passenger information displays and the main control centre was planned. The new system is completely integrated into the existing IT environment of the SSB.
Additionally also interfaces for data exchange with the road traffic management centre of the City of Stuttgart are foreseen.
