Passenger information outside big towns (workshop)

An event with excellent feedback and perspectives

On 13th January 2006, the final workshop of the “Regio-Info” project on passenger information and securing connections in rural areas took place at the Chamber of Commerce in Magdeburg; the project was promoted by the German Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Affairs.

The specialist audience was greeted by Dr. Daehre, the Minister for transport and construction of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, who described the linking of bus and train services as one of the most important transport policy issues in the state. There was great interest in the specialist presentations that followed, e.g. on dynamic passenger information and securing connections in Saxony-Anhalt as a module within an integrated public transport concept (Dr. Rudolf Menke, NASA GmbH) and the keynote presentation on central management of actual data for the purposes of passenger information and securing connections (Mr. Grunow, BLIC GmbH), especially since this is currently the subject of intensive discussions in many transport regions and authorities. These presentations can be downloaded from the BLIC homepage. We hope that the new technical developments will soon be put into practice in the form of improved passenger information and connection services. Saxony-Anhalt is planning its first pilot project for 2006.
